Sports Results 2018-19

11th October

Well done to the children who played at the rugby tournament Thursday at Chester Rugby Club. They won 2 matches (St Clare’s 4-1 and Oldfield 5-0) and narrowly lost 2 matches (Guilden Sutton 3-2 and Mickle Trafford 3-2) conceding last minute tries in both games. All the children performed brilliantly with great team spirit and sportsmanship. Well done all!


25th October

A massive well done to the girls football team winning both their league games tonight. They beat Cherry Grove 6-0 then Tarvin 1-0. The team were a real credit to school particularly with their sportsmanship in the first game, well done!


9th November

Well done to the football team this afternoon who drew 1-1 away at Newton Primary School. It was a battling performance with a good goal. All players contributed to the performance, working well as a team, well done.



12.7.18  Airbus Community Football Cup.

Today we attended the Airbus Community Football Cup.  The team comprised of 4 boys and 4 girls.  We played 7 matches.  We won 5 and drew 2.  This mean't that we got into the final.  They won the final 5:1.  Congratulations eveyone involved.


6.7.18  year 3/4/5 and 6 District Athletics.

A fantastic afternoon and evening at the Chester District athletics.  Lots of success; with a second in the cricket ball throw for year 6.  A 2nd in the boys year 6 relay .  A first in the final of the 200m for Ruby and a 4th in the 100m final for Zara in Year 3.  A great atmoshere from the team full of positivity and encouragement.  Thank you to the organisers a brilliant event as always.

28.6.18.  Year 5/6 rounders competition.

Tonight a team of 10 players attended the rounders tournament at Bishops High School.  They played 2 matches.  They drew one and won one.  In the second game their was some fantastic teamwork between the bowler, backstop and first base.  They got the opposition out very quickly.  Well played everyone.

27.6.18.  Year 5/ 6 Orienteering.

A team of 5 boys and 5 girls attended the orienteering at Overleigh.  They had the task of having to run to a set of points and registering themselves with their 'dibber.'  The complete team was timed as they hit the markers.  This was hard work in the baking heat.  Well done team.

21.6.18  Year 3/4 Red Tennis Competition

A fantastic afternoon today at Glen Aber tennis club.  A complete year 3 team came 5 th in their group in the mini red tennis competition.  

Everyone  who was playing in this competition was representing the school for the first time.  They all grew in confidence and skill the more they played.  Photos in the gallery.

14.6.18  Kwik Cricket Compertition.

Today a team of 8 year 5 and 6 children attended the Kwik Cricket festival at Boughton Heath Cricket Club.  The team were successful in reaching the semi -final.  Sadly they lost to Oldfield. On their return they said how much they enjoyed it and felt they got better with each game they played.  Well done everyone! 


2.5.18 Chester Cup Competition

Three cheers to the Belgrave football team.  Second in the league and runners up in the Chester League Cup Competition. Our most successful football team to date.  It has been an amazing season of football.  A fantastic team attitude and some brilliant football!  We couldn’t be more proud of you. Thank you for all the support over the season.



A fantastic new event today for years 3 and 4.  We attended the Diamond Cricket Festival today and played four games. We learnt lots of new skills and will be trying it at school.  The sun even came out. Everyone really enjoyed it well done.


The high continues... A well deserved win for the Belgrave football team in the semi-finals of the cup beating Oldfield 7:1.  Fantastic teamwork and positivity was seen throughout the game.  Here's to the final on Wednesday.  Good luck boys!  Thank you to Mr. Mulligan and all the supporters there today, a  great atmosphere.  See you at the final at Kings School on Wednesday at 16.25 hrs.

26.3.18. The final league game of the season finished on a high.  Belgrave beating Mickle Trafford 7:0 at home.  The results will now be sent off and we will see where we finish in the league. The team have played brilliantly all season. 

We would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Mulligan from the team, parents and teaching staff. 

Our next game will be in the semi finals in the cup after Easter.  We are just waiting to see who we will play.



League game at home versus Malpas.

Belgave won 3:2.  The second win of the week, well done!  Mr Mulligan reported they had a fantastic game and were unlucky not to have scored more goals.  Last league of the season next Monday, see you there.  We are playing Mickle Trafford at home.

Chester Schools' Cross Country at Stanney 16th March 

An exciting afternoon in the rain, but it didn’t dampen the Belgrave spirit. A fantastic effort from the Belgrave team.

Some results to be proud of:

Healy 3rd, Lewis C 7th, Danielle 11th, Issy 17th and Lewis P 18th ..... We will add more results as we receive them! The children ran in their age groups i.e. Yr3/4 and 5/6 and there were approx. 80 pupils in each race.

The children were proud to beat their personal bests!

Everyone did brilliantly in muddy conditions. Everyone stayed until the final race was complete to cheer on their team. Thank you Belgrave, we are so proud of you.


Girls' Football Tournament 8th March

We played 4 matches. Won 2, drew 1 and lost 1.

This got us through to the semi final against Kelsall where we drew 1:1. This mean’t it had to be decided on penalties. Sadly we lost as we missed one and had one saved. The goalie was fantastic in goal!

Mrs Redmond reported that, "All the team were a pleasure to take."

This was the second leg of the Chester Cup Competition.

Play stopped just before the final whistle due to an injury. 

Year 5/6 Netball Tournament 15th February

The team played 6 matches; they won 2, drew 2 and lost 2. 

Year 3/4 mixed football tournament on the 8th February

The team played well but only scored one goal. Mrs Hancock reported that the team were unlucky as the ball hit the posts and they just missed getting more goals. It was a hard afternoon as it was very cold and rainy. Great sportmanship evident...well done!

Athletics on 31st January

19 Year 5 and one year 6 pupil went to the Sports Hall at Stanney for an athletics event. All the schools in Chester were invited. Our slot was the Wednesday morning and we came 4th/10. Well done to everyone.

Football League Game on 29th January

The team played Farndon and lost 4:1. Good sportmanship was shown by the team. Congratulations to Farndon. 

Football League Game on 4th December

The team played really well and won 5 goals to 1 against Acresfield.

Well done!

Year 5 and 6 Hockey on the 16th November 

The team played 4 matches. They won one and lost 3. Mrs Clethro and all the parents that went told us that the team played really well in all of the games showing great team spirit. Thank you from all of us!

Year 1 Mini Kickers 16th November 

Year 1 played brilliantly and got to the semi finals where they lost on penalties. 

Tag Ruby Tournament on 18th October

Won 4 games and lost 1. Reached the semi final and lost 4:3 to the winners of the tournament. Played valiantly!

The First Football Match of the Season

Belgrave played Tarvin on the 10th October in the Chester Football Cup Competition. This was a game played at home and Belgrave beat Tarvin 17:1.

Both teams conducted themselves well and sustained an energetic game throughout.  

Belgrave are the Winners of the AIRBUS Community Cup 2017!

District Sports on 7th July 

Congratulations to Romain for winning medals in the 800 metres and javelin and Aymon for winning a medal in the long jump. Thank you to everyone who took part. Many of the pupil were 2nd and 3rd in their heats. Issy got into the final for the sprint for Year 3. 

Orienteering at Overleigh St Mary's 

The team talked about their timings and their achievements. Thank you for representing the school. 

4th July's Swimming Gala Team 

Tennis Tournament on 22nd June 2017

The team played well and came third in the group. Thank you for representing Belgrave!

Kwik Cricket on 15th June 2017

The Year 6 team went to play a Kwik Cricket Tournament at Boughton Hall. they reached the semi final. 

Lost to Delamere, beat Chester Bluecoat and Cherry Grove. Narrowly lost to Saughall in the semi final.

Well done for playing really well and showing such excellent sportsmanship.  

The Chester Schools' Football Cup Final

On the 4th May the Belgrave Team played King's in the Chester Schools' Final.

The team played valiantly and showed a huge amount of stamina and reslience. They played well right up until the final whistle. The score was 6:1 to King's.  Congratulations to King's!

The Belgrave Team have so much to be proud of and it is a briliant achievement to be the runners up in the 2017 Chester Schools' Cup Final.  


The team's behaviour has been exemplary throughout the season and has been commented upon by headteachers and staff from the schools we have played.  Thank you for all the support from the parents and pupils at school.

Belgrave are through to the  Final of the Chester Schools' Cup Competition!! WOW!!

It was a really exciting game. 3:3 and into extra time.

Final score was 5:3 to Belgrave.

The first goal was scored by Romain to kick us off. The next 2 goals were scored by Ethan to make it 3-0 .Then the next 2 goals were scored by

Romain again to make it 5-0 .

He scored a hat trick and Ethan scored 2 goals. Every one did excellently !!!
